On 21st June 2025, the 11th edition of the Genocide Memorial Rugby 7s Tournament marked a significant step forward for Rwandan Rugby, drawing a record 21 teams, 12 men’s teams and 9 women’s teams to compete in the newly renovated Amahoro Stadium, upgraded to meet international standards.
This annual tournament is organized by the Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC).
It serves as a powerful platform to honor the memory of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, especially the athletes who lost their lives. More than a competition, the event promotes remembrance, unity, and peace through the spirit of sport.
